The Libra Tale

Dark Lore · 2026-08-26
In the forsaken depths of the celestial expanse, where the whispers of forgotten stars still lingered on the wind, the scales of Astraea hung suspended, their delicate curves a testament to the goddess's unyielding justice. Once, they were but two fangs, merged with those of Scorpion, a monstrous creature that slumbered in the shadows, its malevolent presence a constant reminder of the chaos it inspired. As the ages passed, Astraea's scales remained steadfast, ever vigilant, as if waiting for the call to strike. For when she felt the earth's corruption seeping into her very essence like an endless, dark stain, the scales quivered with anticipation. They were the instruments of her judgment, the balance that would bring order to a world gone mad. The stars above seemed to darken in response to Astraea's anguish, their light faltering as if eclipsed by a malignant force. The Scorpion, sensing its master's turmoil, stirred from its slumber, its jaws snapping with an otherworldly hunger. For centuries, it waited, patient and silent, until the day when the scales would be called upon to mete out its verdict. A lone figure, driven by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, dared to venture into the realm of the celestial bodies. They gazed up at Astraea's scales, mesmerized by their beauty, yet sensing an eerie presence that lurked within. The wind whispered secrets in their ear, warning them away from the scales' dark power. But it was too late. As they reached out a trembling hand to touch the scales, Astraea's voice echoed through the cosmos, a haunting melody that seemed to pull the very stars down into its depths. "You should not have come," she whispered, her words carried on the wind like a warning from the abyss. And with those words, the scales began to tremble, their balance shifting as if the fate of the world hung in the balance. The Scorpion's jaws snapped open, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth, and Astraea's voice rose to a crescendo, a chilling harmony that seemed to summon an unholy darkness from the void. The stars above darkened further, as if the very fabric of reality was unraveling. The air grew thick with an unseen presence, a palpable force that threatened to consume all in its path. The wind howled like a chorus of lost souls, and the moon hid behind a veil of shadow, afraid to gaze upon the abyss. In that moment, the world teetered on the brink of chaos, as if the scales' judgment had unleashed a horror beyond comprehension. And when the darkness finally receded, leaving only an unsettling silence in its wake, Astraea's scales hung suspended once more, their balance intact, but their power now tempered by the knowledge that some secrets were better left unspoken. The stars above continued to whisper their secrets to those who dared to listen, but the wind carried a new message, one that spoke of the unfathomable horrors that lurked beyond the reaches of human understanding. For in the realm of the celestial bodies, justice was not always just, and the scales hung as a constant reminder of the darkness that waited patiently for its next victim.

After "Remember" (Christina Rossetti)

Poem · 2026-08-26
Silent hours creep in like shadows gray, Fading light upon life's final day. Memories of love and laughter past, Echoes that will forever last. In darkness, I'll find peace to stay, A refuge from the world's wild way. Though time may fade my face so fair, And years go by without a care. My heart remains, a love so true, Forever yours, in memory anew. The wind whispers secrets, old and new, Of moments shared, forever true.
