The Pisces Tale

Dark Lore · 2026-08-26
In the depths of a forsaken dawn, where the sky was a sickly shade of grey and the stars had not yet emerged from their slumber, Typhon stirred. His fury raged like a maelstrom, as he ravaged the realm with an unrelenting wrath. The gods cowered in terror, their faces twisted in anguish as they beheld the monster's descent. Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, stood resolute amidst the chaos. Her delicate form was beset by panic, her heart racing with fear for her son Cupid, who clung to her hand like a lifeline. The young god's wings fluttered wildly as he screamed in terror, his voice lost in the cacophony of destruction. In desperation, Venus turned to the river Euphrates, a dark and foreboding waterway that seemed to writhe and twist with malevolent life. As she gazed out upon its treacherous depths, two fish appeared, their scales glinting like embers from the underworld. They rose up on their hind legs, their eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. The goddess seized the opportunity, and in a desperate bid to save her son, she transformed into one of the fish herself. Her body merged with that of the creature, its silver scales glistening in the dim light. The two forms hung suspended above the water's surface, their tails entwined as if bound by an unseen force. As they floated, lost in the chaos, the gods watched in awe. They saw the goddess and her son become one with the river, their essence merging with the waters to create a new, twisted form – Pisces. For in that moment, they became forever bound, tied together by an invisible cord that seemed to pulse with an eerie, otherworldly power. From that day forward, the stars were said to twinkle like fish scales in the night sky, their light reflected in the dark waters of the Euphrates. And whenever Typhon stirred, his fury was tempered only by the knowledge that he had crossed paths with a creature of darkness and beauty – a being whose form would forever be etched into the fabric of the universe.

After "I started Early – Took my Dog" (Emily Dickinson)

Poem · 2026-08-26
Silent streets, like worn-out paths, I walked alone, my dog by my sides, The morning sun, a golden haze, Illuminated all our secret ways. In hidden gardens, shadows play, A midnight crowd, in whispers sway, The wind, a whispered promise made, As I, a solitary figure, strayed. But then, a shadow on the wall, A glimmer of a face, beyond recall, He moved with purpose, swift and cold, And seized my hand, his eyes grew old.
