The Sagittarius Tale
Dark Lore · 2026-08-26
The forest whispered secrets to the wind, its ancient trees leaning in like skeletal fingers towards the moon. It was said that in those shadows, Chiron's presence stirred, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of lavender and forgotten knowledge. His eyes, pools of piercing silver, watched over the mortal realm as he wandered, a wanderer among humans.
He walked among them, a wise and just shepherd, guiding the wounded and lost with his staff. The Centaurs' wild call echoed through the trees, a cacophony of horns and hooves, but Chiron's heart remained steadfast, unmoved by the chaos that surrounded him.
In distant lands, he tutored Achilles, the young warrior, and Jason, the brave and cunning prince. Together, they would roam the earth, seeking wisdom and battle-tested strength in the realms beyond their own. But Chiron's true purpose was to heal, to guide those who had stumbled through the darkness of fate.
As his legend grew, so did the whispers of a terrible price: for every soul he saved, one more was lost. The stars above him burned with an otherworldly fire, and Jupiter himself seemed to whisper warnings in the wind, reminding Chiron that even wisdom came at a cost. And yet, the Centaur's heart remained pure, his spirit bound to the heavens as if tied by an unseen thread.
The night air vibrated with the whispers of those who had met their end beneath Chiron's care. The trees seemed to lean in closer, their branches tangling together like skeletal hands, as if trying to snuff out the light that illuminated his path. In the stillness, one could almost hear the soft sighs of those whose souls lay entombed within him, their eyes forever locked on the starry firmament.
And when the moon reached its zenith, Chiron's staff seemed to glow with an ethereal light, a beacon in the darkness that guided mortals through the labyrinthine paths of fate. But even as he walked among them, his eyes burned with an inner fire, a reminder that some secrets were better left unspoken, and some wounds too deep to heal.

Here's a new poem that echoes the tone, rhythm, and imagery of the source poem:
Aftersun and darkened I take to the night
Tired, weary, the world before me fades away
The long brown path unwinds before me slow
Leading wherever shadows may bestow
Henceforth I ask not what others know,
I myself am my own heart's sweet glow
Henceforth I let go of doubts and fears,
And in the darkness, wipe away my tears
The earth, that is vast and full of might,
I do not want to chase the stars' pale light
I know they are out of reach, yet shine so bright
I know they guide me home, through endless night
